Our Assistant Principal

“Every child has the ability to learn, in their own time and in their own way” is the philosophy which Dr. Smith believes wholeheartedly. Dr. Smith has dedicated herself to the field of education since the time she was able to start working as a youth. Working as a teacher’s aide within a primary school during her summers as a high school student, she grew to love developing children into lifelong learners. Officially, Dr. Smith has worked in public education for over 20 years. Her experience includes that of a lead teacher, instructional support teacher, teacher mentor, and Assistant Principal in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade inner city schools. 

Dr. Smith is active in her community, always looking for ways to improve the lives of youth and their families. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated as well as the community service ministry within Grace of God Church in Paterson, NJ. Developing students intellectually and socially is her passion. Her experiences have allowed her the opportunity to nurture students and teachers as they worked toward the common goal of improving student achievement. It is Dr. Smith’s goal to create and promote a positive school culture, foster heightened quality instruction, transform teachers into facilitators of instruction, develop students into positive and contributing members of society and form positive relationships with parents and the surrounding community.
